We recently designed and built a website for the Trustees of the Murgitroyd Foundation – a charitable endeavour set up by the Murgitroyd family to honour their late parents, Pat and Ian Murgitroyd.
We had previously worked with this client on another brand they owned, Artroyd. We created a simple but effective one-page website for a professional look and feel. They were so pleased with our work that they asked us to design and build a site for their additional endeavour, The Murgitroyd Foundation.
The Murgitroyd Foundation seeks to award charitable grants to organisations that support growth in their local communities. The trustees of the foundation live in Scotland and North Carolina respectively, so the grants awarded by the foundation are specifically designed to support charities that will create positive change in these areas.
Creating the website
We wanted to create a website that featured the story of the family and the origins of their foundation. The foundation was set up in 2019 to honour the legacy of Patricia Murgitroyd, the Trustees mother. Sadly, in late 2020, their father Ian Murgitroyd passed away suddenly. In light of this loss, they decided to carry on with setting up the foundation to allow the spirit of their parents’ legacy to be carried forward.
The foundation awards grants to charities who support work in the areas of Education, Housing and Food Security, Healthcare and Arts and Culture. They also award special grants named after Ian and Pat Murgitroyd supporting work in the areas of environmental sustainability and animal welfare, respectively.
With this website, we wanted to make it as easy as possible for potential applicants to find all the information they needed about who could apply and what they would receive as part of a grant. Keeping the amount of pages on the site to a focused minimum was key to this. We also created an easy to use grant application form that would allow the trustees to gather the right information about applicants, which would in turn make their selection process much more streamlined and stress-free.
Launching the work
Through regular Zoom meetings (and battling time differences!) we built a great relationship with the Trustees of the Murgitroyd Foundation, and came to really understand and align with their vision for the foundation and the impact it would have for the organisations supported with their funding.
We launched their new website in August and have continued to work with them to ensure the smooth transition to accepting their first round of applications. Visit their website to find out more about the work they do and see which organisations they have already helped to make a difference in their communities.
