This week, Cole AD delivered a seminar presentation at the SUSE AGM 2026 held at the Stirling Court Hotel, focusing on the growing importance of digital accessibility in modern workplaces. The session explored what digital accessibility means in practice, highlighting the need for websites, software, documents, and communication tools to be usable by everyone, including disabled employees and service users.
The Scottish Union of Supported Employment (SUSE) is the national representative body for supported employment providers and anyone interested in ensuring that disabled people and those with long-term health conditions, across our country, have the opportunity of a working life.
The seminar examined why accessibility matters across organisations, not only from an ethical perspective, but also in supporting productivity, inclusion, and equal opportunities at work. Attendees heard about common barriers disabled staff can experience, including inaccessible documents, poor colour contrast, missing captions in video content, incompatible software, and workplace systems that do not support assistive technologies.
Cole AD also shared examples of good practice across workplace tools, including accessible website design, inclusive document formatting, captioned video content, keyboard navigation, and clear communication standards. The presentation featured a discussion around employer responsibilities under accessibility and equality legislation, encouraging organisations to embed accessibility into everyday digital processes rather than treating it as an afterthought.
Our thanks to all who attended the seminar and to SUSE for the invitation.
